Information For The Aquarium Beginner

Easy to Grow Aquarium Plants
easy to grow freshwater aquarium plants The great thing about the internet is the huge amount of information out there about keeping an aquarium.  There are countless sites that tell you everything you want to know about every kind of fish and plant available.

But all you need to know at the moment is where to start.  I have put together a list of about twenty five different plants that are easy to grow, easy to find, hard to kill and perfect for someone who is just getting started.  They are all fairly forgiving of water quality which is ideal for the new aquarist.  Although any plant will benefit from the addition of CO2 all of these plants will grow well without it.

I will add to this list as people suggest new plants

They are divided into different sections depending on where about in the aquarium they should go, but don't be afraid to mix them up a bit.  There is no harm in having different height plants at different spots within the tank.  It all adds interest for the fish and for you.  Just remember to make sure that the substrate is deep enough for the roots.  Generally speaking deep at the back and shallow at the front.

Have fun...think of this as Micro Landscaping!

Each of the Plants is listed with a small description. Starting with the plants for the front at the top of the list and moving back through the aquarium as you progress down the list.  If you want to look at background plants start at the bottom of the list.

Click on the name to take you through to more information and a great picture of the plant.

When you've got some ideas simply draw up a plan of your tank and start planning your planting list.

From here on it gets really interesting!
