It has an easy going temperament and mixes well in community tanks spending its time in the mid to top region of the tank.  Ideally these fish should be kept in groups of six or more as they do like to shoal although smaller groups can be considered.

Be careful not to allow the temperature of the tank to get too high as the White Cloud Mountain Minnow is better suited to cooler water.  Check the temperature range for any other fish you are planning to make sure that they are compatible.

They will be quite happy on a diet of flakes, frozen, live or freeze dried food.

The males are smaller and their colouration is far more intense than the females.  They are easy to breed and will quickly multiply in an aquarium.  It is best to breed then in shoals as the male can harass the females if there are only two fish in the tank

They, like most egg scatterers have no sense of parental responsibility and will happily eat their young for lunch so do need to be kept in a well planted aquari8um if the young are going to survive in any numbers
